Why the music school is awesome

Lake Norman Music School is an amazing place. They help unlock newfound passions, reignite

lost interests, and overall bring joy to their community. Lake Norman Music School is a family owned and operated business that provides music lessons of various instruments to the community of Denver.

I have been a student there for about a year. I started out with acoustic guitar with my instructor Michael Luce. Later I got into electric guitar when I heard about my school’s production of The School of Rock. After reading the script, I realized that I might want to play a character known as Katie Brown, except she plays the electric bass. With the help of my instructor, I was able to learn the bass in only two lessons! After I auditioned, I went to check the cast list, and I saw that I was casted as Katie Brown, the bassist! I would not have been able to do it without Lake Norman Music School and Michael’s help.

Mike Luce, one of the co-owners of Lake Norman Music School, donated his time to helping, and

directing the schools’ brand new pit band, which played all the backing music to the musical. Lincoln Charter’s Denver campus only has some art classes and theater, so most of these students had never played an instrument before.

However, with Mike's help they were playing like the pros! Gary Espin, the other co-owner, also

helped the school run all their microphones, and sound to make sure they could rock on each night! Many people in the cast attended their school just for this production.

After many long practices and showing up to Lake Norman Music School on Saturdays to get extra

help, the show became a big hit! The cast and crew received many compliments each night, and many other students in the cast decided to join Lake Norman Music School because of how kind, and amazing they are. Even though they like to give credit to the students of Lincoln Charter and their theater teacher, Mr. Bennett, if it were not for Mike and Gary, this show would have been rough. Their guidance and patience allowed these students to really shine. So, thank you for all the work that you have put into this show and your community! Rock on!
