Student Spotlights: Celebrating Musical Journeys at Lake Norman Music School

Hello, my name is Ellis David Bellwood. I am 7 years old and in second grade at Balls Creek Elementary School. We moved to Maiden from Huntersville in April, but before that we moved here 2 1/2 years ago from Mesa, Arizona. I have been playing the violin for exactly one year and my new teacher is Melanie Stokes. For the recital, I learned to play Ode to joy. I loved it so much that it's even the song for our doorbell! I got to pick it out.

I really like the challenge of playing and the sound of the violin. I liked watching Bluey when I was little, and my favorite episode is Sleepytime. The music is Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, by composer Gustav Holst. He was from England, just like my dad. I love to read books about different composers and scientists.

For Halloween I dressed up as Isaac Newton!

Besides learning the violin, I also like playing Astro bot, Minecraft and Mars rover simulator. When I grow up, I would like to be a Neuroscientist and play the violin in my lab or at weddings.

Everyone is so welcoming and kind at Lake Norman Music School. I'm looking forward to the next recital here and the spring talent show at my school.
